A little conclusion about our history at Beach Road and how three perfectly normal Estonians (it’s in north-east europe) decided to invest some part of their time and life into Cambodia.
Two of us came to Sihanokville as tourists in Jan 2007 just to relax and explore the local culture.
Being here for couple of days and having a couple of drinks one of us revealed his old plan to come to live here and try to run some kind of business. As it was second time for him to be in Sihanokville.
The idea seemed good for both of us and as alcohol makes wise, we already new how we could start to earn for our pension days. The hotel was being built in our minds already.
Back in Estonia (it’s in north-east europe) we made some calculations and tried to study some local laws about hotel and restaurant business. We started to spread the word if someone would like to join us. We found our third partner, he seemed to like the idea and started to put his mind and experiences into our future project.
In June we returned Cambodia with one way ticket to start building our dream project.
Searching for the right place in town we finally found a piece of land that was the perfect location. Right the middle of the popular tourist area.
We started with our construction in july 2007.
Khmers don't like to "sit and do nothing", so the walls just raised and raised. We wanted to finish by the end of November, but unfortunately our opening party took place on the 28-th of December. Almost all estonian nationals were there (to be precise, 25 persons).
Soon every citizen of our motherland knew that the three estonians were up to something on the other side of the world. So they wondered what the hell are we doing here and suddenly started to come and see.
Seeing is believing. We were surprised how popular we became among our fellow estonians. As more estonians came over, more people wanted to invest in our business. Luckily the property next to our hotel was available and we rented it. So in july 2008 we started to expand our business. 50 more rooms and a swimming pool.
A big challenge. By the end of march 2009 we opened our new part. So now altogether Beach Road Hotel has 80 rooms, restaurant, bar, swimming pool, swimming pool bar, cinema, travel agency, massage place, real estate, diving shop, cafe and souvenire shop. Let's see what next year has to offer.
WELCOME TO THE BEACH ROAD HOTEL!
